Why Commercial Environments Choose Epoxy Flooring
Retail stores, showrooms and commercial facilities face a specific set of floor demands: high pedestrian foot traffic, public visibility, the need for a consistent, branded appearance, and the practical requirement that the floor can be cleaned quickly and kept looking good across years of daily use.
Tiled floors crack, chip, and develop grout lines that discolour and harbour bacteria. Vinyl degrades under high traffic and fades unevenly. Polished concrete maintenance is costly at scale. Seamless epoxy flooring provides a competitive alternative to all of these: durable under traffic, easy to clean, available in a broad range of colours and finishes, and capable of carrying brand identity through colour, zoning and logo integration.
Jumbo Flooring works exclusively with commercial and industrial clients. We are accredited Jotun contractors with over 35 years of project experience across Gauteng’s commercial and industrial sector.
We can embed your company logo into the floor. Showrooms, reception areas, retail entrances and branded commercial spaces benefit from permanent, traffic-resistant logo inlays sealed under the topcoat. No decals, no maintenance.
Floor Systems for Commercial and Retail Environments
Self-Levelling Epoxy
2mm to 3mm smooth, seamless finish for retail trading areas, showrooms, reception floors and corporate common areas. Available in a wide range of solid colours and effects. High gloss or satin topcoat. Easy to maintain and clean.
Decorative Epoxy with Colour Zoning
Multi-colour systems using contrasting epoxy zones to delineate retail departments, circulation routes, service areas and brand-specific spaces. Colour transitions are integral to the floor system and are traffic-resistant — not painted or applied as tape.
Heavy-Traffic Retail Systems
For shopping centre corridors, retail entrances and high-traffic public areas. Thicker build and harder topcoat specifications for environments with concentrated pedestrian loads, trolleys and delivery equipment.
Logo and Brand Inlay
Company logos, brand motifs, navigation graphics and directional inlays applied as part of the floor system and sealed permanently under the topcoat. Suitable for showrooms, reception areas, retail entrances and corporate lobbies.
Commercial Epoxy Flooring vs Tiles: A Direct Comparison
Grout lines
Every tiled floor has grout. Grout discolours, cracks, absorbs staining and cannot be cleaned to a consistently high standard over time. Epoxy is seamless — there are no grout lines anywhere in the surface.
Durability under traffic
Tiles crack and chip under point loads, trolley wheels and dropped stock. Individual tiles need replacing, creating visible patches as original tiles become unavailable or colour-inconsistent. Epoxy does not crack under retail traffic loads when correctly specified, and damage is repaired without visible patch lines.
Maintenance
An epoxy floor is cleaned with standard mop and neutral detergent. It does not require specialist cleaning products, grout sealing, or periodic re-polishing. The surface maintenance burden is lower than any tiled floor of equivalent area.
Appearance consistency
Tiles vary in shade, especially across multiple installation phases. Epoxy is mixed from the same batch and applied to a uniform finish, providing consistent colour and sheen across the entire floor area from day one.
Installing Commercial Floors with Minimal Trading Disruption
Retail stores and commercial facilities cannot always close completely for a floor installation. We plan around your trading requirements:
- Phased installation — sections installed in sequence, keeping other areas open
- After-hours and weekend installation — entire floor installed out of trading hours where required
- Rapid-cure systems — areas returning to foot traffic within 24 to 48 hours for tight turnaround situations
- Temporary barriers and signage — managed safely to separate the public from the work area
All of this is scoped and agreed before work starts. There are no surprises to your trading programme.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is epoxy flooring suitable for retail stores and shopping centres?
Yes. Seamless epoxy withstands high foot traffic, resists scuffing and staining, cleans easily, and is available in a broad range of colours and finishes. It outlasts most conventional retail flooring under comparable traffic conditions and presents a consistent appearance over its service life.
Can you embed a company logo in the floor?
Yes. Logos, brand graphics and decorative elements are inlaid into the floor and sealed permanently under the topcoat. Common in showrooms, reception areas and retail entrances. The logo is traffic-resistant — not a decal or sticker.
How does epoxy compare to tiles in a retail environment?
Epoxy outperforms tiles on durability, cleaning ease and maintenance cost. No grout lines, no cracking tiles, no colour inconsistency. A seamless surface that cleans to a consistent standard every time. Lifecycle cost is typically lower than a tiled equivalent.
Can you install while the store is partially open?
Yes. We work in phases, isolating the work area from trading areas, or after trading hours. Rapid-cure systems are available where a fast return to service is required.
